England & Wales Cricket Board

For the past two years, cricket has been under the spotlight over racism and discrimination, operating against a challenging backdrop. As a result, from a communications perspective we have had to focus a significant amount of our time dealing with issues and reacting to events and allegations, rather than being able to unapologetically tell more positive stories about the changing face of cricket. Following our published response to the ICEC report in 2023, our communications team mission in 2024 is to demonstrate that we are moving from 'a sport under fire, to a sport in transformation.’

Every person in the ECB Media & Comms team is deeply committed to making cricket a game for everyone. We don't just dream of cricket becoming even more inclusive, diverse and equitable; we work tirelessly to make it happen. When a player cracks a joke with a child when visiting their old school, we laugh hard together. When we hear the roar of a record-breaking crowd at the Women's Ashes, we stand proud together. And when we heard the testimonies of those who feel cricket hasn't always been a game for them, we double-down on our efforts to make sure no-one feels excluded again. We are also so much more than just a team of communicators. One of us chairs a cricket club, another was once in a 90s girl band and one of us boasts encyclopaedic Eurovision knowledge. We're a team who works and plays hard, together!
